beautiful setting but some onsen confusion
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the Japanese-Style Superior Room. The breakfast was not only beautifully presented but offered a delightful variety that exceeded my expectations. The staff were incredibly attentive, consistently checking to ensure I had everything I needed, which truly enhanced my experience. Additionally, the private onsen was a fantastic feature that provided a peaceful escape to unwind.
However, the communication regarding the onsen hours and policy could be improved.

The private onsen bath was just amazing! Meals were beautifully presented and delicious, but breakfast was a bit out of my comfort zone. The lack of a shower inside the room was kinda inconvenient. 😅

Staying at Masutomi Ryokan was a delightful experience. The warm welcome from the owner made my arrival feel special. I loved the delicious vegetarian dinner, crafted just for me, even though it wasn't usually part of their menu. Breakfast was equally impressive with a variety of options. The private rooftop onsen was a highlight. soaking there while enjoying the view was deeply relaxing. However, I encountered some confusion regarding the tattoo policy for the onsen and pricing details. It turned out my daughter couldn’t use the facilities because of conflicting information. Additionally, the bath hours being restricted for men and women could be more clearly communicated. Despite these hiccups with the hot springs, the charm of the ryokan and the attentive staff truly stood out.

perfect spot for exploring hakone’s rich culture and nature
Staying here allowed me to easily stroll to nearby attractions like the charming Hakone Kitahara Toys Museum, just a few steps away, and regenerate at the tranquil Shogenji Temple, only 500 meters down the road. the focus on traditional Japanese meals was a treat that complemented my experience wonderfully.

We had an excellent stay with our kids, enjoying the beautiful onsen, and the meals were not only delicious but varied daily, keeping everyone happy. The location offered easy access to nearby attractions like the Hakone Kitahara Toys Museum, perfect for our older kids!
In my wife’s opinion, providing more options for kids' meals would enhance the experience.
